Project Description

Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Architect: Karlsberger Associates

Looking to achieve a unique exterior façade with two different stones that could be installed quickly, architects chose Biesanz’ Natural Stone Panels to meet their needs at the Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT. The medical center serves the needs of children in the states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada and Montana. The hospital is equipped to treat children with complex illness and injury and is recognized as one of the top children’s hospitals in the United States.

Designed with 70,000-square-feet of limestone from Valders Stone & Marble and Indiana Limestone Company, the architects wanted to install the beautiful stone pieces at a faster pace than handset installation would allow. Biesanz’ Natural Stone Panels allowed them the flexibility of using any stone product with fast installation times.

Once the approved shop drawings were sent to Biesanz, the team was able to begin work on engineering and design requirements and coordinate stone shipments from Valders and Indiana Limestone to the plant for fabrication. Natural Stone Panels were then shipped to the site and nearly 10 panels were installed daily, helping to keep the project on schedule.
