Orleans, Massachusetts
The architectural style chosen for the Church of the Transfiguration
was basilican. Basilica style churches were popular in the
4th to 6th centuries in Europe.
The process of creating the exterior stone involved one week's
work from quarry block to finished piece. 70 truckloads were
necessary to deliver the blocks of stone.
A typical church stone measured 2 ft. X 4 ft. X 4 in, weighed
500 pounds, and was formed in Minnesota thousands of centuries
ago.
