Biesanz Stone Company was recently awarded the Lilydale Regional Park monument project in St. Paul, MN.
The Lilydale monument is the first phase of a series of park improvements for the City of St. Paul Parks System. The monument will consist of 39 pieces of Biesanz MDL while the walls and walkway surrounding the monument will feature 95 pieces of MDL – totaling 135 tons of stone.
The largest stone, which will be featured at the base of the monument, weighs approximately 15 tons (fabricated from a 20 ton stone piece) and will provide Biesanz with unique fabrication and handling challenges. All stone will be cut to size and machine split, delivered to the site and custom dry-stacked, installed by stone and masonry experts with stainless steel pins and straps, and hand-pillowed at the site to provide a truly monolithic look.
The stone will be fabricated and installed by the end of 2011.
